The member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Dcn. Chike Okafor has made known his resolve to tilt focus from the several health interventions in his constituency to the education sector.

This disclosure was made recently in a media parley with newsmen on one of his visits to inspect various school building projects he attracted to his constituency.

It is on record that the federal lawmaker has to his credit the construction and equipping of 3 cottage hospitals (one in every Local Government Area of his constituency) and the rehabilitation of over 80 primary health care centres that extended even beyond his federal constituency.

Currently, the lawmaker has ongoing construction of classroom blocks and halls in select secondary schools, in the 3 Local Governments Areas of his constituency billed to be completed and commissioned by December 2021 to his credit. They include; Construction of a school hall with 3 classrooms at Mercy Girls High School, Umuezeala Owerre, Ehime-Mbano L.G.A, 6 classroom blocks at Amakohia Girls Secondary School, Ihitte-Uboma, L.G.A, and an event hall with one story 6 classroom block at Okenanlogho Secondary Technical School, Obowo L.G.A. The trio projects are significantly sited at the largest wards of the 3 L.G.As.

Okafor had argued that contrary to the thoughts of some persons, no lawmaker in the National Assembly gets credited directly, huge sums of money known as the annual constituency allocation, rather, lawmakers nominate projects or programs to be sited or executed in their constituency through MDAs or Parastatals of Government.

Significant to note is that, at Okenanlogho Secondary Technical School, Obowo, which is the hometown of the federal lawmaker there has never been any form of intervention since the communal effort of the people in the early 1970s to build the school till he came into the political scene about 10 years ago.

The multipurpose event hall which is being constructed today courtesy of him became very important as commuters over the years lacked a befitting meeting point and this gesture have received cheer and loads of commendation by his kinsmen.
