Ngor Okpala By-Election: Group slams Imo PDP over fake news

A support group of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, under aegis of Ngor Okpala Progressives Movement, NOPM has slammed the opposition PDP in Imo State over her attempts to mislead the public by sponsoring a sensational headline suggesting disharmony and rancor within the APC and against a frontline aspirant in the APC ahead of the Ngor Okpala State Constituency seat by election scheduled for February 26th.

In a statement made available to the media and endorsed by the group, read;

“Our attention has been drawn to the EDGE Express newspaper publication dated Friday, vol 3 No 7 January 28, 2022 wherein the newspaper in a bid to attract readership sensationalised in their banner headline with the title Imo Assembly bye-election, Ngor Okpala APC boils:
• Aspirants threaten protest votes over alleged imposition of Blyden Amajirionwu
• Aggrieved party leaders vow to work for opposition

Although we understand the affiliation of the Newspaper with the opposition PDP in imo state but what we can’t hold unto is why the peddling of false news just to instigate the people of Ngor Okpala against the APC and Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu.

It is obvious that by this publication, the opposition imo PDP is jittery and has confirmed our stand earlier that they have nothing to offer to Ngor Okpala if not propaganda and malicious reportage thus seeing Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu as a threat to their obnoxious ambition.

The APC as a progressive and democratic party will always abide by the constitution of the party in the selection of a candidate as its flag bearer in the Ngor Okpala state constituency election through a primary election and will never impose a candidate on the party and the people.

The party is credible enough to handle its matters including a peaceful means of getting a candidate for the position either through primary election or consensus so far party faithfuls and other candidates involved are pleased with the process.

We therefore call on those working against the interest of APC in the forth coming election to desist from such act as it will do them no good as APC remains on course to provide quality representation to the people of Ngor Okpala.”

The group went further to challenge the opposition Imo PDP to refrain from their act of running to the media to spew lies and fake news against the APC and let the votes speak volume in the upcoming by-election as they are poised are determined to reclaiming Ngor Okpala through the will of the people.
