APC’s victory in Ngor-Okpala, a liberation from bondage, Uzodimma declares

I will not take Ngor Okpala for granted, says Uzodimma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has assured the people of Ngor Okpala Council that his administration will not shy away from policies that will enhance the development of the area following their resolve to take their destiny in their hands.

He stated this, yesterday, at the Government House, Owerri, when leaders and people of Ngor Okpala, presented the newly elected member of the House of Assembly, Blyden Amajirionwu, who won the by-election to fill the vacant Ngor Okpala Constituency position.

The delegation was led by Federal Commissioner representing the South East in the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Chief T. O. E. Ekechi.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, indicated that Uzodimma told the delegation he was delighted at the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, which he said, is victory for Ngor Okpala and the entire state.

Governor Uzodimma, who stressed the potential and opportunities in Ngor Okpala, lamented that for the 12 years in which a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives represented the people, there was nothing to show for it.

He described Amajirionwu’s victory as liberation for Ngor Okpala, which he said, has enormous human and material resources, pointing out that he will send an Executive Bill to the House of Assembly to include the area in the Imo State Oil Producing Area Commission (ISOPADEC) as soon as the Supreme Court rules in favour of Imo State in the pending case on contentious well domiciled in the area that Rivers State has been benefiting from.

Speaking, Ekechi disclosed that their visit was a way of appreciating God for the good thing He has done for Ngor Okpala through Uzodimma.MEANWHILE, the governor insisted that his administration would not be intimidated by any group or person, including the opposition elements in the state and the entire country.

He maintained that the outcome of the poll meant liberation of the constituents from many years of political bondage, noting that it has added to the number of APC members in the 27-member House of Assembly.

Uzodimma admonished the people of the state to embrace the new order, as Imo State, adding: “To be governor, one must have excellent character and exhibit excellent personality. In addition, the person must try to justify the confidence the people reposed in him.”
